Question about footnotes

For my novel this year, there are going to be lines of the story in another language. Is it better, when writing a story, to put the translation as you go along via footnotes or to put it at the end, like in a glossary? I've seen the latter in the Inheritance Cycle, but I feel iffy about doing that in my story.
